Angelique Kidjo

Mesa, AZ. C-Shell Entertainment had the honor of being guests of the Mesa Arts Center for this March 27th performance. I was not familiar with Ms. Kidjo and was absolutely blown away. As a vocalist she has a unique sound punctuated by her strong french accent and the shear power of her voice. Where Angelique excels is as a performer. I have never seen someone interact with the crowd on the number of levels she did during this 90 minute show. From encouraging sing alongs, to roaming through the crowd to inviting 50 adults and kids to share her stage the evening was electric. Did I mention the band? Outstanding! Two guitarists, a bass player, a drummer and a percussionist. The percussionist was a huge highlight for me. A very skilled musician he also brought his amazing personality to the show and the audience. This was a very memorable night for everyone in attendance and I am so glad that we attended.

The Piano Man

March 16th and 17th 2009 @ Skye in Peoria. Terry Davies' produced and performed a multimedia tribute to two of the all time great piano playing song writers... Elton John and Billy Joel. These were the 1st two performances of the exceptional show and they played to a full house. For 2 hours and 10 minutes Terry was Elton John and Billy Joel. Terry was accompanied by an 8 piece band that included the incomparable Paul Brewer on sax and flute. In both shows the strength of Terry's voice was accompanied by two outstanding background singers, Anne Davies and Chelsea Faulds. There was a special surprise in the 2nd show when 15 year old Nick Davies played the harmonica for Piano Man.

After the show, Terry and the band greeted its fans in Raymond's while throwing back some great martinis.

In the crowd on Monday were representatives of the Celebrity Theater who like the show so much that they have asked Terry to bring the show there on April 17th!!

Behind the scenes of a Billy Joel/Elton John Tribute Show

Peoria, AZ. C-Shell Entertainment has been fortunate enough to attend a few of the recent rehearsals for a new show being developed by Terry Davies and the Skye Restaurant. Terry has enlisted two of Skye's best musicians (Tim Forkes and Tracy Williams) and added the amazing musicians from the Chris Parker Project. Backed by the stars of ABBA-Fab (Anne Davies and Chelsea Faulds) Terry is truly in his element. Based on what I've seen so far this show will be spectacular! Don't miss it.

ABBA-Fab - Boulder Creek HS Band Benefit

Anthem , AZ 13-Feb-2009. ABBA-Fab, the amazing multimedia production by Terry Davies performed two shows to raise badly needed funds for Boulder Creek H.S. in Anthem. This was the 1st time this show has been performed outside of the Platinum Room at Skye Restaurant (http://www.skye-restaurant.com/). Each performance was unique and the vocals of Anne Davies and Chelsea Faulds were phenomenal. The band, the audio visual team and the vocalists were on top of their game for two very boisterous crowds.

The from opening thunder of drummer Smurf's bass to the closing bows by the girls the crowd was singing, cheering and dancing to nearly two hours of ABBA greatest songs. Lead by Terry Davies' crowd pleasing humor and exceptional keyboard work this show was a huge hit.

Look for more from this show as Terry partners with C-Shell Records & Entertainment LLC to plan a summer tour.

Review: Blue Martini Lounge

A new live music venue, The Blue Martini Lounge, opened on Friday February 6th 2009 the City North (56th St North of 101) and C-Shell Entertainment stopped in to check it out.

My first and overall impression was very favorable. We got there about 6:20 and it was hard to find a spot to sit. We got lucky and grabbed a couple of stools at the bar in front of the stage where the band would be playing. We were about 10 feet from the stage. There are 3 bars in Blue Martini. One in an open patio allowing people to smoke and drink. One in a slightly elevated, glass enclosed area and the one in front of the stage.

Our bartender, Danielle, was very charming and attentive. Even though the place was very busy we received constant attention. I'm a Diet Coke drinker and my wife had two "excellent" Cosmos. We also tried the food, which was very reasonably and tasty. We shared an artichoke/spinach dip with pita bread and a steak and portabella flat bread pizza. Both were very good, though the pita had been warmed to long and was too crispy. It should have been soft and moist.

What really surprised me was that their Happy Hour is until 7:00 so our entire bill was under $30 (they have tax inclusive prices). That's outstanding especially since they provided live music.

We hadn't planned to stay long, but made a point of staying to hear the band's 1st set and they were very good (I didn't catch their name). The male lead singer's mic needed more volume but the sound system is great in that it's designed for people to socialize. We were 15 feet from the stage and had no problem talking. The lounge has speakers everywhere so that volume is pretty consistent throughout. Very nice.

If you get a chance, stop in, the Blue Martini has happy hour from 4:00-7:00 and live music at 8:00 7 days a week.
